This is a sermon based group. GROUP LEADERS: Charlotte has been attending North Coast since 2013. Brenda has been involved with Life Groups for 29 years. Both Brenda and Charlotte are passionate about finding a group that enjoys thoughtful discussions. They value listening to and learning from the diverse perspectives of group members. Their goal is to connect with women who desire to grow in their relationship with Jesus and share that journey with others who share similar passions.

This "sermon-based" study will be based on the previous weekend's message and built on a "Lecture-Lab" model. Think of the weekend message as a lecture on Christian living, and the group as a lab where you get to roll up your sleeves to discuss how the message works in real life. Each week there will be a series of questions and scripture on the back of the sermon note sheet to study before the meeting. It will usually take 20 to 40 minutes per week to complete this homework. GROUP LEADER: Brigette joined North Coast in 2017 when her daughter and son-in-law were stationed at Camp Pendleton. Her daughter is a USMC veteran. In 2018, she relocated from Missouri to California. Brigette has a deep passion for food and enjoys getting lost in a good book by the ocean. Her four grandchildren are her pride and joy. She is also passionate about learning and teaching the lessons God has for our lives.

In addition to being an accountant and property manager, Gloria is active in many community groups. She is also a big fan of Hallmark movies. Liz moved here from San Francisco in 2016. She enjoys the Soul Gospel venue and serves on the prayer team. Liz has a Ph.D. in microbiology and a master’s in Spanish literature. She has taught high school, been a nursing home administrator, and worked as a hospice chaplain.

He is the father at the baggage claim. When a dad sees his five-year-old son trying to drag the family trunk off the carousel, what does he say? The father will say to his son what God is saying to you. "Set it down, child. I'll carry that one." What if we took God up on his offer? We just might find ourselves traveling a little lighter. Chris has been attending North Coast Church since 2006 and has a heart for building spaces where men can grow deeper in their faith and in relationship with one another. He has been married since 2005 and is a proud father of three—two sons and a daughter. Chris is self-employed and has owned and operated a manufacturing business for over 20 years. In his free time, he can usually be found riding dirt bikes, mountain biking, training in Jiu Jitsu, or enjoying time with his family. Tim has been attending North Coast Church since 1997. He and his wife have been married since 2001 and have three kids- 2 daughters and a son, who are all very involved with student ministries at NCC. Tim is self-employed with an online Amazon business as well as a welding construction company. Our life group is a place for young families in a similar season to connect, support one another, and do life together. As entrepreneurs, homeschooling parents, and an active family involved in local youth sports—including football, rugby, and baseball—they understand the demands of busy lives and the importance of intentional community. When not serving at church, Jen is either bookkeeping, health coaching, property managing, organizing something for someone, learning about something new and interesting, baking (usually healthy) treats, walking a trail, traveling, hanging out with family and friends while very likely conversing about silly things or serious theological ideas, or reading all sorts of books ranging from the Bible to Agatha Christie mysteries.

Brian is a former firefighter who runs a small music business and Lana works at a busy preschool in town as the director. Brian enjoys reading, weight training and is reasonably skilled smoking meat. Our group has a cool dynamic being multigenerational - millennials to baby-boomers. We encourage hard questions and love the collective wisdom that comes from searching the scriptures together for answers. There's a whole lot of fellowship and relationships which sprout from that. We will be reading through John Mark Comers' new book, Practicing the Way. This is a small men's group for those navigating the 2nd half of life (45-55) who desire a deeper connection with other men. We are constantly being formed by the world around us. To be formed by Jesus requires each of us to become his apprentice. Ken is newly retired and enjoys working around the yard, woodworking, spending time with family & friends & is always on the hunt for DIY projects. This group represents ages 60’s through 80’s, but age is just a number. Most of us are retired and our collective interests vary - cooking, baking, hiking, travel, dog sports, arts/crafts, pickleball, golf, gardening, decorating, DIY, reading and bridge, just to name a few. We enjoy spending time together socially either as a full group or as “ladies” or “guys” outings. Studying God's Word is exciting and new every time I dive in. Sharing and discussing it with others opens up questions and ideas that broaden what God wants us to know. I am not sure how "close" we will follow the entire outline suggested on the sermon notes, but it is a place to start. Sometimes it's important to the group to "peel back" a topic and not just check the boxes. Our group LOVES to play games and share meals together. Bob and Cyndi have developed a safe place for us to ask questions and challenge each other as we study God's word. Fran enjoys traveling, reading, listening to any kind of music, and cooking something new. She also does a lot of quilting, working with a small group that makes quilts for various charity donations, including Veterans, Wounded Warriors, and children's groups. Walks along the beach are always a favorite pastime, as well as gathering with their children and grandchildren, whenever possible. Tim enjoys bicycling, scuba diving, woodworking, community college teaching assistant, and landscaping. The Clepper's have been attending North Coast since 2005. Bob and Cyndi are an amazing couple that love traveling, comedy shows, movies, and reading. They are both retired from the Navy and love serving at North Coast, where they have attended since 2009. He is an elementary teacher and enjoys hiking, camping, and swimming. He is also involved at North Coast as a house manager in Soul Gospel and as a part of the Soul Gospel prayer team. Pam started attending North Coast in 2007. She is an Insurance Broker. Pam enjoys spending time with family and friends and creating floral arrangements. Ty and Emily have been following Jesus for several years and have a heart for serving others. Emily previously served in North Carolina in children’s ministry—first with 5th-grade girls, then with 1st grade—helping kids grow in their walk with Christ. They’re excited to create a welcoming space where families can connect, encourage one another, and build lasting friendships while deepening their relationship with God.

Join our fellowship group for widows and widowers over 60, led by Jim Carpenter and Mary Russ. We're a community that enjoys connecting, supporting one another, and growing in our faith through sermon-based meetings. Jim, a long-time member of North Coast Church, has a rich history in various ministries. Mary, who joined North Coast in 2013, is a retired HR manager with a passion for swimming, live concerts, dancing, reading, movies, volunteering, playing piano, walking, and enjoying the beach. Our gatherings typically include 30 minutes of socializing, 45 minutes of meaningful sermon discussion, and 45 minutes dedicated to prayer for each other and leaders at all levels. We also enjoy getting together for lunch after church and participating in the church's Senior Adult and Single Senior events. This group is about building friendships and encouraging each other through shared experiences, rather than solely focusing on grief.

She was married for fifty years and became a widow in 2020. She is a retired employee with the State of California and now enjoys kayaking, trying to golf, lunch with friends, and is interested in pursuing her love of watercolor painting some day. Through her time in bible studies, she hopes to see relationships grow with Jesus and with her sisters in Christ.
