Vista - Starving to Serve

INVITING VISTA 7TH AND 8TH GRADE STUDENTS!

Starving to Serve is a yearly fundraiser where Junior High Ministry (JH78) students fast from food for 27 hours and raise money to combat world hunger while learning to empathize with those facing food insecurity both locally and globally.

Students will spend the month leading up to the event fundraising and finish their fast together on Friday March 20th with a special celebration at the Vista Campus.

Things to Know:

  • We will start fasting on Thursday, March 19 at 6pm and won’t eat again until Friday, March 20 at 9pm.
  • You must register by March 3 to receive a t-shirt at the event. Students that register after will receive their shirt a few weeks after the event.  
  • You must raise at least $50 to be invited to partake in the March 20th Celebration event at the Vista Campus.  
  • After registering, watch your email. We will be sending info on how to access your personal fundraising page.**

Optional 'Last Supper' - Thursday, March 19

  • There will be an optional “Last Supper” event on Thursday, March 19 at 4:30pm for the students that want to come eat their last meal together.  
  • Location: High School Rooms on the Vista Campus, 2405 N. Santa Fe Ave, Vista

Celebration Event - Friday, March 20 @ Vista Campus

  • The Celebration event will be held at North Coast Vista Campus on Friday, March 20.
  • Drop off: 4:30pm on Friday evening in the plaza
  • Pick up: 10pm on Friday night on the parking lot side of the Edge
  • Location: Vista Campus, 2405 N. Santa Fe Ave, Vista

Prizes Awarded at Celebration Event:

  • $50: Invited to the Celebration & Starving to Serve t-shirt.
  • $500: Starving to Serve sweatshirt.
  • $1,000: Exclusive raffle entry with guaranteed prizes.
  • $5,000: One meal every week from the fast food restaurant of their choice ($350 value).
  • Whoever raises the most money will win an iPad. 

** FUNDRAISING REQUIREMENT: Each student is expected to raise a minimum of $50. After registration, students will be provided with a link to their own personal fundraising page that can be shared with family and friends. All payments will be tax deductible.  In accordance with tax laws that prohibit donations designated to an individual, funds raised to support participating students will go into a pool that will be donated to various nonprofit organizations. Student support will be tracked internally to determine the effectiveness of the student's ability to raise support and determine prizes earned.

This registration contains medical and activity waivers that will declare the logged in person as the legal guardian of the student being registered. If the logged in person is not the parent or legal guardian of the student being registered, please do not continue with this registration.
